In support of The Marching Chiefs and Florida State University's instrumental music programs, the FSUMCA sponsors a number of scholarships.
Our Scholarships
Charles E. Carter Scholarship
Awarded in honor of Charles Carter, Arranger and Associate Director, Florida State University Marching Chiefs, 1953-1996. This is a $2,000 award which may be presented to recognize students in the FSU College of Music with a major or emphasis in arranging or composing for wind instruments. Student(s) must be recommended by the FSU College of Music Faculty.

Manley R. Whitcomb Scholarship
Established 1986
This is a $5,000 award of merit and achievement which is granted annually to well-rounded sophomore or junior band student(s) majoring in Music and is intended as a reward for past experience or motivation for future experience. Student(s) must be recommended by the FSU Director of Bands. The award was established in 1986.

Robert T. Braunagel Graduate Assistantship
The Robert T. Braunagel Scholarship provides up to $5,000 to support graduate student(s) within the FSU Band Program. The graduate student(s) will be recommended by the Director of Bands.
Marching Chiefs Color Guard Scholarship
This is a $1,250 award given to students with a high level of skill in the Marching Chiefs Color Guard (flag/rifle). Students are recommended by the Marching Chiefs Director and selected by a FSUMCA representative.

Marching Chiefs Majorette/Feature Twirler Scholarship

Need Based Scholarships
This scholarship was established to support needs-based members of the Marching Chiefs. This scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the Director of Bands. The total award(s) in this category will not exceed $3,000.
