Scholarships

Charles E. Carter

 

Awarded in honor of Charles Carter, Arranger and Associate Director, Florida State University Marching Chiefs 1953-1996. This is a $1500 award which may be presented to recognize students in the FSU School of Music with a major or emphasis in arranging or composing for wind instruments. Student(s) must be recommended by the FSU College of Music Faculty.

Manley R. Whitcomb Scholarship

 
This award of merit and achievement is granted annually to well-rounded sophomore or junior band students majoring in Music, and is intended as a reward for past experience or motivation for future experience. This award is currently a stipend of $2,000. Student(s) must be recommended by the FSU Director of Bands. The award was established in 1986. Click here for a list of recipients.

Manley R. Whitcomb

Robert T. Braunagel Graduate Assistantship

 

The Robert T. Braunagel Scholarship will provide a graduate assistantship that will have direct association with the FSU Marching Chiefs. The graduate student will be recommended by the Director of Bands. The stipend is currently $6000.

Marching Chiefs Color Guard Scholarship

 
This is a $1,000 award given to students with a high level of skill in the Marching Chief's color guard (flag/rifle). Students are recommended by the Marching Chiefs Director and selected by a FSUMCA representative. 

 

Marching Chiefs Majorette/Feature Twirler Scholarship

 
This is a $1,000 award given to students with a high level of skill in the Majorette or Feature Twirler areas. Students are recommended by the Marching Chiefs Director and selected by a FSUMCA representative.

 

Need Based Scholarship(s)

 
This scholarship was established to effectively take care of need-based issues that arise with members of the Marching Chiefs. This scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the Director of Bands. The total award(s) in this category will not exceed $1,000.
